Partnership
Over
the past ten years the Award unit has been able to set up partnerships
with several projects. This has meant that young
people in Edinburgh and the Lothians are offered some of the most exciting
and rewarding activities and has opened the Award scheme up to more and
more young people. Current partnerships include:
Award
Inclusive :
Award Inclusive aims to extend the reach of the Award by making it accessible to some of the city’s most disadvantaged young people. By working in Social Inclusion Partnership (SIP) areas of the city we hope to enable young offenders, those at risk of offending as well as other young people at risk, to experience the benefits and sense of achievement gained from participation in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Programme.

The
Eagle Club :
The Edinburgh Award Group Leaders & Expedition Club is an Edinburgh
based adventure club open to anyone interested in walking, climbing, canoeing,
cycling or any other outdoor activity. The members mainly consist of leaders
with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme in Edinburgh and we work closely
with the Organisation. Check us out at www.eagleclub.co.uk or
phone Kyle on 0131 558 9763
Green Team:
We are a youth organisation set up in partnership with the Award in Edinburgh
to promote active learning through enjoyment in the outdoors. We carry
out environmental projects centred around a conservation task with time
also spent exploring the countryside and taking part in environmental
activities such as art games and crafts. Find out more about us at www.greenteam.abel.co.ukor

Inspire:
‘Inspire’ is an association, set up to advise the Award Unit in its work with young people with experience of mental health difficulties. Award Leaders play a hugely important role in promoting the mental well-being of young people, by motivating, enthusing and building self-esteem.
At some point, 1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health difficulty, such as depression, an eating disorder or schizophrenia. This is likely to be accompanied by incredibly low feelings of self-worth. By taking part in the Award, young people are actively working towards their own recovery. To find out more, contact Matthew Priest on telephone 0131 558 9763.
